Roger Dixon-Spain discovered his life's purpose late in life:
The beliefs that I had for most of my adult life were not my own, I only really acquired my own ‘knowings’ very late on in my life…shocking! I suspect that a lot of farmers are conditioned from birth as I was. That conditioning is one of the biggest rocks in the road to the changes we need to see, if we are to survive as a species.
The story as I tell it is not about farming, but about personal growth. About the real time experience of farming and not really wanting to, and thinking that the whole of my working life had been a complete waste of time.
Having not wanted to farm, I now find myself wanting to do little else. Strange… but that is what paradigm shifts are, scary, and the commitment that inevitably comes with them which is to act, and not hold back.

Why don’t farmers adopt Holistic Management more readily? Many urban people can’t understand why more farmers don’t get onboard because Holistic Management seems to be a no-brainer. It’s a win for the farmer, a win for the consumer, and a win for the planet.
For Savory Network Hub leaders and educators, farmers can remain elusive. How do we find the farmers who are ready? What are the signs that tell us they are ready? How do we meet farmers where they are, instead of turning them off?
Two Savory Global Network leaders, who wrestle with these questions on a daily basis will attempt to address these challenging questions, offer their views on the breadth of the reasons, and suggest their ideas for what specifically can be done to overcome the barriers to adoption. They will create an experience for you that will rock your world as the pieces fall into place around who is and who is not ready to embark on holistic thinking, and what you can do about it.
