Webinar: Be in Demand From Brands That Care

Sheila Cooke • 7 May 2019

An Introductory Webinar for Farmers

Many in agriculture want to coalesce a meaningful response to climate change, and there are challenges in every direction.

FARMERS
-- farmers lack sufficient incentive to take a risk and make a change to practises that regenerate soil. Even when the farmer produces a high quality product, the farmer still encounters the conventional distribution system, making it difficult to receive a reward for that differentiation.

BRANDS -- many brands want to contribute to climate change mitigation, but are unable to reliably source adequate volumes of product from regenerative producers because many are unknown or small.

CONSUMERS -- products grown on regenerating soils are often blended with conventionally-managed products, so the consumer cannot differentiate, and cannot influence change by using their purchasing power.

We want to help farmers, brands, and consumers unite together in creatively shaping and influencing a new story that regenerates soils; and we invite you to attend a webinar to learn how you can become part of the solution.

THE SOLUTION

3LM has collaborated with the Savory Institute, to localise Ecological Outcome Verification (EOV), for the UK and Ireland, and is now ready to launch this new verification, starting in the summer of 2019.

Ecological Outcome Verification (EOV) is the "science inside" Savory Institute's Land to Market programme. Land to Market is a sourcing solution that connects conscientious buyers, brands and retailers directly to farms that are verified to be regenerating their land. EOV is the empirical instrument used to qualify participating farms into the program.

EOV is a practical and scalable soil and landscape assessment methodology that tracks outcomes in biodiversity, soil health, and ecosystem function (water cycle, mineral cycle, energy flow and community dynamics.)

Farms demonstrating positively trending outcomes in land regeneration through EOV are entered into a "Verified Regenerative Supplier Roster", from which participating buyers, brands, retailers and end consumers can access products or services that have been produced on a verified regenerative land base.

3LM has partnered with conscientious brands under the Land to Market programme. For meat we have Ethical Butcher, and for wool we have Brannach Olann and H. Dawson. There will be more brands that follow.

AN INVITATION TO ATTEND "BE IN DEMAND FROM BRANDS THAT CARE"

Who should attend?
All farmers are invited to attend. It doesn't matter how you currently manage your land and livestock -- all are welcome.

What is the purpose of the webinar?
Our purpose is to tell you how Ecological Outcome Verification can help you as a farmer to understand and improve your most important asset, which is your land. Hear from brands about why the programme is important to them and to their customers, and how you can get involved.

When is it?
There are two options for attendance:

  • Tuesday, 14th of May, 2019, 15:00 -- 16:00
  • Tuesday, 28th of May, 2019, 15:00 -- 16:00
